About Chng Seok Tin
Chng Seok Tin was born 1946 in Singapore. She is a multiple award-winning artist. Her works have been widely showcased through over 30 solo exhibitions and 140 group exhibitions held in Asia, Europe and USA. The unfortunate visual impairment in 1988 has not stop her from creating artworks. Her relentless spirit and contributions towards art has won her, the Woman of the Year 2001 award by Her World magazine. Later, she also has been recognised with the highest artistic honor, the Cultural Medallion conferred by the President of Singapore in 2005.
Chng’s works occupy a pivotal place in modern printmaking in Singapore. Her art practice encompasses drawing, painting, collage, mixed-media, photography, sculpture and installation.
Chng Seok Tin studied Intaglio and Engraving under legendary printmaker S. W. Hayter. She made her first Master in Printmaking at New Mexico State University in USA. With great passion in making prints, she further achieved her second Master in Printmaking at The University of Iowa, USA under noted printmaker, Professor Mauricio Leib Lasansky.
Her artworks have been widely exhibited around the world including Washington, New York, Beijing, Chengdu, London, France, Belgium, Japan, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore ...
